Export face as figure

Post by dforchheimer »

Hi,

In Protocase Designer 5 I used to be able to export a face as a figure (I believe I could get SVG, but maybe it was only PNG). After clicking around for quite some time I can not figure out how to do that in PD 6. I can see the option to print a face, but that doesn't allow me to print to file. Does the feature still exist, and if so, where do I find it? I need this feature because I prefer to work on the graphics separately in Inkscape rather than directly in PD.

I'm running Protocase Designer 6.1.15 on Linux

Cheers
Daniel

Hello,

I think you are looking for the Export/Import Graphics template. Open the face editor and go to IMPORT/EXPORT section and click the drop down and choose Export Graphic Template then click go. It should save a PNG of the current face.

Best Regards,
Matt

Hi Daniel,

You’re not missing anything obvious — PD6 removed the direct “export face” feature that existed in PD5. In PD6, printing faces to file (SVG/PNG) isn’t supported anymore, even via the print dialog. The usual workaround is to export DXF of the panel and bring that into Inkscape, or stick with PD5 for graphics prep. Might be worth emailing Protocase support; they’ve acknowledged this regression before.
