Can inside face be milled down to mount DB9?

Post by TSCE »

I need a thick material for stiffness but need a thinner area for my DB9 to mount, is it possible to mill down the panel on the inside where the DB9 is located to a thinner thickness?

Hello,
I am sorry for the delay in the answer. Our notification system failed and I did not realize there were posts waiting for answers.

As far as your question, what a coincidence, we just added limited machining to our offerings! We do not have support in designer yet so if you put some notes using the note tool on your design (please use the latest version from http://www.protocasedesigner.com/RELEAS ... -Nov25.exe because an earlier version did have trouble losing notes). You could draw the outline of where you wanted the milling using construction lines and put a note on them, or just a note on the db9 part, or a note on the face. In the future there will be support for milling pockets and in designer.

The automatic quote will not be accurate, please contact a sales rep for a quote at sales@protocase.com. I would recommend letting them know you need the milling and that you put a note in designer about it to make sure no-one missing anything.

Thank you,
