Can I use .DXF import instead of .PNG for screening?

Post by TansorKev »

Uhg, this is going to take me another month before I can place my order now - AHHHHHHH!!!!
When I got to the screening portion of my 5U rackmount design I was going to do the import of the screening layer. To save time I was just going to use the self named "screen layer" from my CAD program that I used to do everything else and export it as one .DXF ... I had done that with all my many cutouts and export, then import as one group, having some ref point in CAD as 0,0 coordinates which made placement on my "edit face" so quick and easy. I wanted to do the same with the screen layer but see the only option I can find is to import .PNG file for that. This means I have to export my screen layer from CAD into windows .wmf file, then slap it into a word document, then copy paste into my Adobe Fireworks program, screw around trying to resize it, it is already pixelated by then OMG!! I know there MUST be easier way, can anyone help me? I only have one color to be used for the screening, and nothing fancy (but a LOT of lines I don't want to do all over again), and it looks great in CAD!! I just want to get that screen layer out of CAD as .DXF and treat the whole layer like a cutout block when importing it into protocase designer (edit face). Thanks a Bunch!! Kevin :x

We have plans to rework the dxf import to allow this. In the meantime, you can send the dxf files along with your order and we can make the silkscreens from that. Just be clear in the email what you need.
