size for m4 and M3 threaded pocket hole cutout

Hi,

What are the Hole diameter and minimum depth for a M4 Tapped, for Thread M4 X .7 pocket hole, on a 6mm aluminum panel?

What are the Hole diameter and minimum depth for a M3 Tapped, for Thread M3 X .5 pocket hole, on a 6mm aluminum panel?

Hello hautcoeur,

m3 = approx 3.11mm
m4= approx 4.15mm

those would be min recommended, but in order to get the min actual you would need to pitch to get 2 threads, which is what I would say would be the overall min so say 2mm for the m3, and 3mm for the 4mm approx in order to allow for 2 turns plus some screw clearance.

But what are the holes diameter?

Ops, was focused on the depth. Here you go.

M4 X .7
Diameter = 4mm
Tap drill size = 3.3mm

M3 X .5
Diameter = 3mm
Tap drill size = 2.5mm
