HTPC and templates
Good afternoon all.
I wanna fire up my custom HTPC project. Being new here and since time is a value commodity for us all, please allow me to inquire: I'm banging my head against the wall, please, how do I add a Face to my existing project, because the templates are just not good enough. (are there more to dld?)
Regards

Re: HTPC and templates
Hey Darky,
As of now, users cannot add new faces onto the templates. The exception is template brackets can be added to other templates( see the tutorial on how to do this here http://www.protocasedesigner.com/wiki/i ... g_brackets)
Since you are building your own custom computer project, I'd like to let you know that we have been working on a template with cutouts for pci cards and disk drives. If you are interested, I can send you a beta version of this template.
Feel free to email me at cpoushay@protocase.com. I'd be happy to hear your feedback regarding our templates.
Thanks,
Colin

Re: HTPC and templates
Good morning and thank you for the fast response.
It is very good news to hear that we can now add faces to our designs.
How can we do this please? Is this a feature on a new version of the program?
Is there a selection of heatsinks on the library, please? I need bulky , hefty ones
And regarding the pci etc template, I will email you,
thank you

Re: HTPC and templates
What is the Brushed Aluminum finish on the list please?
If there is such an option.
Again, thank you for helping out a newbie

Hi Darky,
you can read more about our bare metal finishes here:

Re: HTPC and templates
We do not have heat sinks in our library. Although we have the capability to machine custom ones with our CNC machine.
Re: HTPC and templates
Thank you for that and I see that the grained finish is what I need,Colin wrote:Hi Darky,

but (and this is the last question before I finish up with my designs - I hope)
how will the colour of the grained finish be black? Do you offer black anodization or some other way to paint it black and keep the brushed grooves intact?
I am asking all this to avoid remaking the whole design and because I want exactly this look, as follows, on the front face of my htpc and an amp face I am making. Thank you again so very much for your assistance.
Re: HTPC and templates
Hi again Darky,
the color of the grained finish will be that of bare cold rolled steel (or aluminum if you use that metal). You can see examples of the bare metal finish on the page I linked to you. They don't look quite as dark as your picture. If you have more questions feel free to contact me again!

Re: HTPC and templates
When will these be downloadable? Also what about the other case cutouts, the IO ports, leds, motherboard io cutout & power/reset buttonColin wrote:Hey Darky,

Re: HTPC and templates
Hi Edward,
we should have editable disc drive/hard drive brackets, ATX motherboard mounting layout and I/O panel cut-out within a week. Some of the other more general cutouts (power/ reset button) will not be included in the template and will have to be added to match your components.
If you would like to try making your own computer enclosure with Designer, you may find these resources handy:
