Protocase Designer version 3.12 Features

Post by dronne »

Protocase Designer version 3.12 is due out in mid to late February (with the usual caveats on development not always going as fast as you expect). It is to be the final release in the current line before a major architectural rework will be done so this version will be around for a little while at least. Primarily the last set of important bugs will be addressed and a couple of very important features will also be added.

What is being done in this version is the following:
  • Undo/ Redo
    • Every modern software product needs undo/ redo functionality
  • Sharing of Cutouts
    • Some way of sharing cutouts and providing more cutouts is necessary
    • Options being considered:
      • Save/ Load of cutouts
      • Online Database/ Library
        • Protocase Provided Cutouts
        • User Provided Cutouts
  • Custom Cutout Editor Improvements
    • Reliability improvements
      • Close Contour more reliable
    • Usability improvements
      • Undo/ Redo
      • Better Control of Drawing Arcs
      • Better Control of Dragging items
      • Double Click Closes Path
  • [/*]
  • Silkscreens
    • 32 bit .png files also supported
  • Minor Bug Fixes
  • New Blank Rackmount Template
    • A rackmount faceplate cover

In the new version we will be able to put silkscreens closer to the edge but there is a very good reason for not being able to put cutouts and pems near the edge. If a cutout is too close to a bend, it will not bend properly. If there is an overlap behind a face, the area you can't place on gets larger.

Thank you,
