Personal Cutout Library
Currently, the personal cutout library is stored in the C:\Program Files\Protocase Designer\cutouts file. There is no backup or sharing built into the program (though it is an xml file and you can backup your file or cut sections out and paste them into your co-workers' files). In 3.12 there is an e...

Windows, Linux, and Mac
One benefit of switching to Java and JOGL for the next major version (after 3.12) is that it should not be difficult to make builds for Windows, Linux, and Mac. So far test builds have run on all three platforms!

Re: silkscreen help
That is a limitation of the current program. It will be fixed in the next version. In the meantime, open the template, change the background to transparent, and make your silkscreen. You won't be able to import it onto your case but you will be able to send it along with your case and our graphics d...

Re: problem importing silkscreen
Yes in fact there is some news on this. The current version of protocase designer only understands 24bit .png files (no transparency). The next version due out in mid february (and we are on track still for that release date) will be compatible with 32 bit .png files (which inkscape and gimp use). C...

Silkscreens without OpenGL support
If your computer does not have OpenGL support, you can still get silkscreens on your case! The "export silkscreen template" function in the face editor will still work. You can modify this template in any editor that edits .png files and include the file with your order. Our design team will add it ...

Protocase Designer version 3.12 Features
Protocase Designer version 3.12 is due out in mid to late February (with the usual caveats on development not always going as fast as you expect). It is to be the final release in the current line before a major architectural rework will be done so this version will be around for a little while at l...

Silkscreens cannot place in the keepout area
Silkscreens cannot be placed clear to the edge of a face. The restrictions are not as strong as the restrictions to the cutouts however. If you need a silkscreen that enters the keepout area, please contact our graphics department for further information. Future versions of Designer will have a more...

I upgraded and all my cutouts moved!
In previous versions of Protocase Designer, the displayed cutout location was in some cases incorrect and when enclosures were ordered the cutout locations were sometimes off. The production team would try to correct for this but sometimes mistakes were made. In the current version of protocase desi...
